These are good machines, I've had one for 4 years now. If you can find a 'C' type machine for sale buy it! They are the latest generation and quite well engineered.
The previous typs, 'A' or 'B' tyype can be upgraded to a 'C' type by sending it in to the company, LHR, for a very reasonable price. Almost any reasonable price you purchase it for and the upgrade cost will give you a machine that costs less than a new 'C' machine. What to look for. 1) The general condition of the machine, clean, not beat up and all functions operate without problems.
2) Check the base at the serial number. The letter in the beginning represents the type, 'A', 'B', or 'C'. 'C' is best but not many available used. 3) Low hours on the cut motor. This can be found by viewing the readout screen on the crank side. Ask the owner to show it to you.
4) The shipping box with Styrofoam in tact. Important because you'll need it for any shipping or transportation.
5) The sandpaper X drive belts are not wrinkled on the edges from creaping to the side. 6) Check the chuck that holds the cutting tool for ease of operation, bits are removeable easially. A tool is included for this if it's needed. Perhaps the past owner has upgraded the chuck, this is a real plus! 7) If a scanning probe is included be prepaired to pay for the lisence. Contact Lynn at CarveWright to do this. 8) Be aware that you'll need a receipt to transfer ownership from the registered owner to you.
Contact Lynn at CarveWright to do this. I believe that a stolen machine will not be allowed to be transferred! 9) Items included in the orgionial purchas are included in the offer. Memory card with programer, 1/16' carving bit, 1/8' cutting bit, bit ejection tool, check with CW for other. Some other items should be looked at or be aware of, obvious as with any used machine.
PM me if you'd like more info. By the way, I have a machine with only 10 hours for sale along with an 11 piece bit set for sale.
Need money for Christmas. All listed items above are good. I don't understand everything about marketing but I doubt that there is a 'spy' GPS in the firm ware or anywhere else. This question would best be answered by Lynn at CW, please contact her, she does have all the answers and can be reached through the phone number on the CW home page. As with any tool or machine, know what you're purchasing, research all things involved. Depending on the purchase price, the cost of the upgrade will give you a fine tool since the 'C' type CW is great upgrade and as far as I'm concerned all the bugs have been worked out. When you license the machine and software with the machine serial number through CarveWrights system it will verify that this serial number is not in use by any other user.
For a used machine, like Brad stated you will need to notify CarveWright to release the used machine from the prior owner. With each system you are allowed to have the basic designer software licensed on up to two computers. Each software enhancement (centerline text, scanning probe, 2d/3d tools, STL importer, DXF importer, etc) has its own activation license and they are set to the owners computer and are not transferable. So, in other words, when you invest your $$ in software and upgrades for your carvewright, you lose all your investment $$ if you wanted to pass the machine on to your son or other family members. Basically the machine becomes a dead herring. I am seeing some carvewrights for sale, the owners asking waaay too many dollars for a used machine and are very surprised when i tell them NONE of their upgrades seem to be transferable to a new owner. So i understand carvewrights intent to protect user machines from being stolen and used but unable to transfer and use all the upgrades pretty much makes me a non purchaser either for used or new.
Rather than razz my reply, which was meant to provide information, you should take your concerns to Lynn at Carvewright. Please contact her by phone. The number can be found at Carvewright.com. Please don't shoot the messenger if you don't like the message. I understand that you have feelings about this topic, as others may have, but I was only trying to provide some info that might bite someone due to lack of research. Seems that folks want to raise questions rather than do research or follow through by contacting the CW company. Thank you for your thoughts.
Hello Bradley, My apology, dont have enough posts to reply privately. It was not my intention to bash anyones comments. For me this is simply expressing my thoughts and concerns and certainly willing to listen. Often my need for honesty and respect when dealing with both people and companies can put me in a place of frustration. The apparent Carvewright policies SEEMS to fall outside what I think is proper. I will call Carvewright next week and try to get a more clear understanding.
My real goal was to work with a CNC machine for a variety of projects without great frustration. I do have a saw mill, stop by for some free wood some time!!:-) Thank you for your comments and insights!!

These are two separate subscriptions and purchasing one does not entitle you to the other. The “Project of the Month” subscription gives you a project each month. One price for the subscription gets you 12 projects at a greatly reduced price than available to non-members.
The projects are specially designed and crafted for us, with each month being a new and exciting the project. The “Carver’s Club” subscription is a yearly subscription for phone support. If you are out of warranty, there is an issue fee each time you call in for support. The Carver’s Club subscription takes care of that buy covering the issue fees for a year.
It also includes 12 monthly exclusive offers to members, such as free pattern, discounts on software packages, or discounts on accessories. There is also a 25% discount on labor, if you should have to send in your machine for repair. It does not cover the cost of parts that may be needed for those repairs.

The machine engraves with pretty good quality for what it is. Note that it is not a laser. It won't do a picture. However, it will do a nice deep carve (unlike a laser). This part of the machine I liked. Also, the software is pretty full-featured. I would have liked an optional print driver such as many lasers engravers employ.
This is not a big problem though as it is easy to use. However, there are some drawbacks. It is made in China & quality control seems to be lacking. The carving head assembly moves up and down on two side mounted bolts. The assembly must move down these bolts to secure the workpiece. Carvewright includes a method to move the head when it becomes jammed-a hole in one of the bolts through which you shove an allen wrench to crank it manually.
But not to fear, I only have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME. I would probably try to change the machine if other people did not have worse issues. Preemptive response to CarveWright-it was perfectly clean and lubricated. Also, everything with this machine is an add on. It does a terrible job with text unless you pay an additional $100 for the Centerline text option. My carving needs text, thus there went $100. For this, they simply opened an option in the existing software to engrave straight down into the wood.
How else would you engrave text and why make me pay extra for something that is already there you stupid jerks? After this, I found that my 'unlocked' centerline text required different bits to work appropriately. I kissed another $300 goodbye.
These are not options, they are must have items. There are also very few included patterns in the software, but never fear, they have hundreds more on their website.for a price.
In summation, the machine does engrave well (after upgrading) despite some quality quirks, but if you want to buy the machine plan on spending at least $400 more. In summation, the machine does engrave well (after upgrading) despite some quality quirks, but if you want to buy the machine plan on spending at least $400 more. I purchased the Carvewright system, along with the bit set, from Amazon.
Let me first say Amazon was perfect in every way. However, I never even got a chance to complete a single project before the machine died. The front roller switch was defective from the factory causing error after error. Each time I started the machine I had to wiggle the wire feeding the roller, per another Carvewright owners suggestion, which did temporarily fix the problem but I should not have to do that with a new machine.
After my second attempt at carving a sign the gear wheel stripped and that was the end of that. I called the Carvewright people the next morning and spent about 2 hours on the phone before we identified the problem.
The man was very nice and helful but in the end a new gear box was needed and I was the one, I guess, who was supposed to do all the work to install it. He stated it would arrive in about a week or so. I needed it quicker than that in order to work on some signs for my daughters 4H group so I requested they send it overnight. After much pondering they stated I would need to pay for the shipping. At that point I simply told them the machine was on its way back and thanks for nothing. I can see the excitment about what this machine potentially was supposed to do, however, I found it way to breakable and can see that even if I did fix these problems the potential for more problems was around the next corner.
Also, unless you are willing to purchase the extra bit set for $300 the results would be dissatisfying. I also was unimpressed with the quality of the carved lettering so I purchased the Centerline Text for $100 which is non-refundable, so that money is gone.
In the end for about $700-$800 I would consider this machine but for the current price I paid ($1700) I would strongly avoid. The concept is very appealing but the product is far from dependable.
I assembled the unit in a very short time. I installed the software and without ever reading a thing, created a new test drawing. I loaded the data to the card and then put into the machine. At that point the screens on the system seemed wrong/different from the quick quide. I could not get it to carve.
I called technical support who answered very quickly and had the fix quickly. I had to update the units bios and then change one setting in the menus. Basically the unit was in scanner mode which I do not own YET and only wanted to scan instead of cut. After that it worked flawlessly. I loaded a work piece and ran the 'demo' carve which was a vectorized image of a picture of our dog Buddy. This device is so versitile it is truly only limited by your imagination. That being said, you really need to watch how you create things and make sure that there is plenty of work piece for the unit to hold on to, If you carve the entire surface then it has nothing with the full width to hold on to.
I have done several pieces and they have all come out very well and I am learning more with each piece like scaling of letters to keep them crisp/etc. I would highly recommend this device to any woodworker looking to add to the list of things they can do. I received this new machine today and have had a blast with it. Couple things someone should know before buying though.
First, you will need a little computer knowledge. You will have to use the cards with your computer so it's helpful to know your way around. You will need your computer to do carving right away.
Second, don't expect any help from the company. Their phone rings busy day and night. READ THE BOOK and paperwork that comes with it. Go slowly and cover it all. If you have trouble, jump to their website forum, there seem to be many people there to help you. I also purchased a return machine on a pallet that the customer said would not work, gave errors caused trouble and malfunctioned.
As soon as I knew what I was doing I switched to this supposedly 'junk' machine and it works wonderfully. It was nothing more than a customer not knowing how to use it. Ha, his loss is my gain so I am the proud owner of 2 perfect machines! First of all, even though this is considered a hobby machine it needs to be treated like an industrial machine. It needs to be constantly maintained, vacuumed, sensors changed, oiled, etc. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU THINK IT WILL BE EASY TO USE! The software and actual setup isn't too difficult if you have worked with graphics programs in the past but there are still a lot of bugs that need to be worked out.
Take into consideration that you may need to purchase extra parts very early, you will certainly have to call for technical help, you may need to send it back to carvewrite a couple times, you may even need to get it replaced 2-4 times before you get a machine that lasts longer than 30 hours. That being said, if you have the patience to deal with those things this can be an amazing tool. I am on my second machine (the first one kind of stalled out), and I am more aggravated that I will have to wait five days to start carving again then having to deal with replacing the machine. Since I got her I have spent all of my free time carving, staining, and painting so needless to say this will be a pretty boring five days. I have a feeling that in a couple of years all the kinks will be worked out until then I am considering getting a second or even third machine so that I don't have to wait if one needs to be repaired. By the way if you get a downdraft system with this machine the difference is insane!
It will last a lot longer and you will have a lot less problems. The people who have never had a problem and have had it for well over a year attribute their success to a proper downdraft system. They are not terribly expensive on amazon, just look up 'dust collector'. I bought mine for $178.

The word 'keygen' means a small program that can generate a cd key, activation number, license code, serial number, or registration number for a piece of software.
KeyGen is a shortened word for Key Generator. A keygen is made available through crack groups free to download. When writing a keygen, the author will identify the algorithm used in creating a valid cd key. Once the algorithm is identified they can then incorporate this into the keygen. If you search a download site for Carvewright Keygen, this often means your download includes a keygen.
